Understanding the basic properties of wood is essential to proper maintenance and expectations associated with the ownership of solid Wood countertops and furniture. Wood is a natural organic material with properties including: density, strength, grain pattern, moisture content, workability, natural durability, aesthetic appeal, and varying levels of hardness depending on the wood species; making it versatile for construction, furniture making, and other applications, with key factors like its cellular structure and composition of cellulose fibers contributing to its unique characteristics.

Density and Hardness: Certain hardwood species are denser than others this hardness aids in the ability to resist scratches and dents. A hard scratch resistant coating is only as strong as the wood underneath supporting it. Wood is not stone or engineered materials thus it can develop scratches and dents. We do not guarantee that our countertops and furniture will not develop scratches and dents.

Grain Pattern: The visible arrangement of wood fibers and texture of the wood surface. We are true believers in the natural beauty of the grain pattern showing through stained countertops and furniture. The grain pattern and texture affects the way stain is absorbed thus affecting the overall uniformity of color and contrast. No two pieces of wood is the same. We see this as what makes it beautiful when hand stained, but some want uniformity of color. There is a clear difference between Hand stained and toned. We do not guarantee uniformity of color or that the color will totally match samples.

Moisture Content: The amount of water in wood, affecting its shape and dimensions. For most woodworking projects, the best moisture content is considered to be between 6 %and 8% for hardwoods, as this range helps prevent warping and cracking while maintaining stability in indoor environments. The recommended Humidity level to maintain proper moister content after finishing is 50%- 55% especially during the winter months when shrinkage is most prevalent. We endeavor to maintain the 6% to 8% moister content in the wood before finishing but after delivery and or install, the built-in, countertop, or furniture will acclimate to the customers indoor environment which can have a less or more humidity level resulting in swelling or shrinkage. We recommend that customers maintain the humidity level around 50%- 55% especially during the Winter months so as to reduce the natural tendency to shrink and develop checking and cracks. We do not guarantee that our built-ins countertops and furniture will not swell or shrink and develop checking and cracks.

Handcrafted Furniture and Built-Ins imply the fact that each one is one of kind we use pictures to advertise, but due to the natural differences of wood we do not guarantee a perfect match to the item pictured
